The Grower
Meet Pramod, a chilli enthusiast with a passion for growing exotic Mauritian produce. Born in Mauritius and raised in a family where agriculture has always been part of daily life. I recall my grand parents always being occupied in their fields of vegetables and sugarcane while for me as a child their fields were my playing ground and that is where my curiosity about agriculture developed. I can say that agriculture is in my DNA. My late father, an ex police officer, was also a keen gardener in his spare time and I learnt a lot from him. Growing produce from my own seeds has always been an experiment for me with a view of developing new varieties or bettering existing ones. Since I acquired an allotment plot in 2017, that dormant spark reignited and the passion for growing exploded. I trialled over the years and improved my favourite variety of chilli called Piment Cari. In 2024, I got the opportunity to take a spacious growing plot and the experiment of growing on a large scale started. Plantinlab Ltd was incorporated in 2023 and now trading as Lepimentcari. Alongside my life partner, Madhvi and our daughter, Saniya, we aim to make this wonderful flavourful chilli as well as exotic produce available to you in Lepimentcari shop. Our growing technique is simple which is growing in harmony with nature and supporting wildlife. We also have our own organic fertiliser brewery!

Fresh produce should not go to waste
Teaming up with Local community hubs, any surplus produce are donated to help those in need to support their welbeing. Last year we donated lots of courgettes and sweetcorns. This year were exceptional for courgettes and they were well received by the Bentswood Community Hub. With all the hard work that we put in to grow these produce we don’t want to see them to go to waste.
Every year our support to community hubs will continue. Stay tune for updates.
